Athena Bughao is Associate Vice President, Search and Biddable Media Activation, APAC at Essence, a global data and measurement-driven media agency which is part of GroupM. Based out of Singapore, she currently heads the agency’s Search and Biddable Media Activation teams across the region.
Joining Essence in 2014, Athena leverages her mastery of biddable media platforms to consistently deliver high-quality marketing campaigns that are industry-leading with in-channel performance and data integrity. She also successfully navigates the evolving digital landscape to exceed clients’ business goals by partnering with them to employ best practice tools in areas such as forecasting, learning agendas and bid management.
In 2018, Athena was named to Campaign Asia-Pacific’s Women to Watch list, which highlighted her subject matter expertise, leadership, and excellence in building teams as well as creating effective systems and tools.
Prior to Essence, she served as Assistant Director, Global Marketing at self-publishing company Author Solutions in the Philippines.
An industrial psychology graduate from the University of the Philippines, Athena is a mother of two daughters and enjoys spending her free time with her family.
